Bear Trap
Bear Trap is a science fiction novella by American author Alan E. Nourse first published in 1957.
The man's meteoric rise as a peacemaker in a nation tired by the long years of war made the truth even more shocking.
An American propagandist is tired of manipulating the public in a world where the U.N. has collapsed, the country got out of one war with China, only to be facing a new one with Russia, and every political action seems to be forced by the war industry. He gets a final assignment: to write a slanted story about the life of the one honorable man who worked for peace.
An enjoyable, convoluted, mysterious, hunt for the truth.
Bear Trap was first published in Fantastic Universe December 1957.
Alan Edward Nourse (1928-1992) was an American science fiction author and physician. He wrote both juvenile and adult science fiction, as well as nonfiction works about medicine and science. His SF works generally focused on medicine and/or psionics. Psionics refers to the practice, study, or psychic ability of using the mind to induce paranormal phenomena. Examples of this include telepathy, telekinesis, and other workings of the outside world through the psyche.
His novel The Bladerunner lent its name to the Blade Runner movie, but no other aspects of its plot or characters, which were taken from Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
